The vedas acknowledge divine karma as the origin of all creation, preservation, and destruction. However, since God does not have desires, unlike humans, he is not constrained by them. In the first chapter of the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (1.6.1), we discover that karma is one of the three main causes of diversity, alongside name and form. The variety in names is a result of speech, and the variety in forms is a result of the eye, while the mind and body are the sources for the variety in actions. For every action, the body serves as the source, the controller, or the lord. Within the body, the mind, speech, breath, organs of action, and organs of perception are regarded as the primary deities who receive sustenance from the body and carry out their respective functions. Nevertheless, we cannot solely depend on them to combat the impurities and the malevolent forces that can infiltrate our body, as they are susceptible to evil and demonic influences, thoughts, desires, temptations,...
Maya, a controversial topic is in the Gyan Yoga of Swami Vivekananda. The only reason to use this word "controversial" is because this topic has led to a big controversy between dualism and non-dualism for approx 2000 years. The approach to Maya in Advaita Vedanta is unique as other perceptions (school) see Maya as a creation of god and assumes it as reality. Vedantasara is a classic book to understand non-dualism.
Advaita Vedanta says:
"JAGAT MITHYA, AHAM SATYA, JIVA BRAHMNE MANA PARA"
- Jagat Mithya: The world we live in is Maya.
- Aham Satya: You yourself are the real truth.
- Jiva Brahmne Mana Para: But we don't know it because we haven't discovered our self.
Maya is ignorance of truth. We also don't know that we are Brahman and the problem starts here. We cannot say Maya has proper existence because the enlightened persons do not feel Maya but on the other side Maya cannot be challenged as we live around it. Ignorance to Maya is a bad trait rather it's better to know it and then work on it, says non-dualism. Ignorance is cancelled by knowledge as we get to know what we don't know. When the Atman is diluted with Maya, Self awareness cannot be done. A classic example for this by Sri Ramakrishna is unless we don't move the formation of dirt and fertility on the pond we won't be able to see the pure water beneath it, so the same is with Maya unless we don't remove Maya from our vision of life we won't be able to feel the real Brahman inside our self.
Ramanuja Acharya, who lived 1000 years ago, attacked the Advaita Vedanta through his master piece Sri Bhasya which has 7 great questions on the weak link of non-dualism which is Maya. All the questions are answered in the book "Seven Great Untenebals" by John Grimes. Ramanuja mentioned that there are two sorts of Maya which are "Vidya Maya" and "Avidya Maya".
Swami Vivekananda said the way out of Maya is through Maya, it's called Vidya Maya where there is absence of ignorance and this is called spirituality.
My Respected Viewers to cover the whole topic of Maya, need to publish more than 2000 blogs. Best way to understand by Swami Vivekananda's quote "IT'S BETTER TO UNDERSTAND THE MACHINE TO FIND THE WAY OUT OF IT OR ELSE THE MACHINE WON'T LET YOU GO".
